Mr.Hobby Mr.Color GGX Rapid Thinner T217 – 400 ml

The Mr.Hobby T217 Rapid Thinner is a specially formulated thinner designed for the Mr.Color GGX range of paints. Developed for matte paints, it allows for smooth application and quick drying, ensuring consistent and high-quality finishes. It is not recommended to use standard Mr.Color thinners with GGX paints, as this may affect their performance.

How to use:

Gradually mix the thinner into the paint until the desired consistency is achieved. For airbrushing, a ratio of approximately 3:1 (thinner to paint) is recommended. Avoid over-thinning to maintain opacity and adhesion. Always ensure compatibility with the paint type used.

The correct thinner reduces paint viscosity, ensuring smooth flow through the airbrush nozzle or even coverage when brush painting. Always match the thinner to the paint type – the safest option is to use the one recommended by the manufacturer. There are three main types of modeling paints: oil-based (which can also be thinned with white spirit, turpentine, or lighter fluid), water-based acrylics (thinned with water or alcohol), and solvent-based paints (requiring specialized thinners). When brush painting, only a small amount of thinner is needed to slightly soften the paint. For airbrushing, use a higher ratio – around 3:1 thinner to paint – and ensure a milk-like consistency in the cup.
