Description

Model of a two-axle beer transport wagon in the livery of the Polish State Railways

A ready-to-run model of a two-axle goods wagon for beer transport, in the historic livery and lettering of the Polish State Railways (PKP) in Era II. In H0 scale PIKO has reproduced the characteristic interwar rolling stock that handled beer transport by rail for breweries and wholesalers.

The model features filigree ladders, grab irons and handrails applied separately to the body, as well as spoked wheels typical of rolling stock of this era. The accurate printing faithfully reproduces the old PKP colours and lettering, while a low centre of gravity and a precise chassis ensure very good running characteristics even in long trains.

About the beer transport wagon:

In the interwar period the railway was the principal means of long-distance beer transport. Breweries used dedicated goods wagons to carry barrels and crates over greater distances before road transport became widespread. Such wagons bore railway liveries and lettering and – often – the advertising inscriptions of the breweries, making them a colourful and recognisable element of the goods trains of the day.

Two-axle wagons with spoked wheels, timber or steel sides and a simple underframe were the most common type of goods rolling stock in Era II. The PIKO model captures that atmosphere, reproducing the silhouette and livery characteristic of PKP rolling stock of 1920–1945.
