Description

Model of the telescopic hood wagon in Swiss Federal Railways livery

This H0-scale model reproduces the brown telescopic hood wagon of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in a livery characteristic of Era VI. It is one of the classic freight wagons for the covered, weather-protected transport of sensitive loads – primarily steel and aluminium coils, often carried in long block trains.

The model stands out with its true-to-scale proportions, numerous separately applied details and a carefully reproduced wagon floor. High-quality mould construction, clean paintwork and precise printing underline the authentic overall character. Thanks to its high dead weight, the wagon has very good running characteristics and is ideal for realistic freight train formations on H0 layouts.

About the vehicle – telescopic hood wagons:

Telescopic hood wagons are modern freight wagons used to carry loads that need protection from moisture and dirt, particularly steel and aluminium coils. Their characteristic feature is the sliding, overlapping (telescopic) hoods, which when pulled apart expose the loading space and allow convenient loading and unloading, and when pushed together tightly cover the cargo. Special recesses on the wagon floor hold the coils in place. Wagons of this type are used by many European carriers, including the SBB, most often in homogeneous block trains serving the steel and metalworking industries.
