Eduard 82243 – Curtiss P-40K Warhawk "short tail", 1:48 model kit (ProfiPACK)

Eduard 82243 is a self-assembly model of the American Curtiss P-40K Warhawk fighter in the short-fuselage ("short tail") version, in 1:48 scale. It is a ProfiPACK edition equipped with pre-coloured photo-etched parts and painting masks.

Note: the set does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Assembly:

We recommend attaching the pre-coloured photo-etched parts (including the instrument panel and seat belts) with cyanoacrylate glue. It is worth painting the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage, and the included masks make painting the canopy framing easier. The remaining parts are joined with plastic cement.

We recommend applying the decals over a gloss coat, which limits the risk of decal silvering, and after drying sealing them with a matt or satin coat.

For painting we recommend the colours typical of Allied aircraft of the period; the instructions give detailed schemes for the 6 options. The finish is usually matt or satin.

About the aircraft – Curtiss P-40K Warhawk:

The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American single-seat fighter powered by the Allison V-1710 inline engine, one of the most heavily produced US fighters of the early war years. It served on many fronts and with the air forces of many Allied nations, including the USAAF, the Soviet air force and the famous "Flying Tigers".

The P-40K received a more powerful Allison engine. The increased power worsened the aircraft's tendency to swing on take-off, so early "short tail" examples were given an enlarged dorsal fin fillet (later examples had a lengthened fuselage). It is this short version with the added fin that is the subject of this model.
