The Faun SLT 50-3A Elefant was developed in West Germany in the 1970s as a heavy-duty tank transporter for the Bundeswehr. Powered by a Daimler-Benz OM403 V8 diesel engine producing 730 hp, it could haul loads of up to 52 tons on the SaAnh.52t semi-trailer. Its 8×8 drivetrain and robust construction provided excellent mobility even under extreme field conditions. The Elefant became a crucial part of NATO logistics, serving reliably for decades until replaced by the newer SLT 56 “Franziska.”
