Rye Field Model Ground Support Equipment Detail Set for MiG-21MF (RFM 6001) in 1:48 Scale – 3D Print

Rye Field Model 2122 is a set of ground support and servicing equipment parts 3D-printed in resin, designed for the MiG-21MF kit by Rye Field Model (no. 6001) in 1:48 scale. The parts allow the modeller to reproduce accessories characteristic of Soviet and Eastern European air force maintenance environments — making a valuable addition for modellers building display or servicing scenes around the aircraft.

The set is dedicated specifically to the RFM 6001 kit and forms part of four detail sets developed by RFM in parallel with the MiG-21MF base kit.

3D-printed resin parts – precise detail unachievable by injection moulding

3D printing in resin enables the reproduction of ground equipment with the edge sharpness and geometric precision that injection moulding cannot match. Service trolleys, support beams, wheel chocks and other flight-line accessories in 1:48 scale are small, but their detailed execution has a clear impact on the atmosphere of a diorama composition — particularly when the model is displayed in a scene with spread-out ground equipment.

Resin parts are attached using cyanoacrylate adhesive. Priming the resin surface before painting is recommended. Soviet aviation ground equipment was typically painted olive drab or grey, with characteristic yellow warning markings — archive photographs and specialist publications provide detailed reference.

About the aircraft – Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21MF (Fishbed-J):

The MiG-21MF was one of the most widely exported Soviet combat aircraft of the Cold War. Maintained by ground crews at airfields from Poland to Vietnam, it required standard Soviet servicing equipment that itself became a recognisable visual element of Warsaw Pact air bases. Accurate reproduction of this equipment allows the modeller to place the Fishbed in a specific operational time and place, giving the display an authentic, documentary character.
