Hobby Boss 84549 is a self-assembly plastic model kit representing the Swedish Combat Vehicle 90 infantry fighting vehicle in the CV9035 configuration used by the Royal Netherlands Army (Koninklijke Landmacht). The 1:35 scale model captures the silhouette of one of the most advanced European IFVs — a vehicle developed by BAE Systems Hägglunds in Sweden, notable for its 35 mm Bushmaster III autocannon capable of engaging a wide range of targets, including lightly armored combat vehicles.

The CV9035 belongs to the third generation of the CV90 family and was exported among others to the Netherlands and Denmark. Dutch vehicles have served with the Royal Netherlands Army since 2007 and are currently undergoing a mid-life modernization program that includes the Iron Fist-Light Decoupled active protection system.

Building the model:

The kit requires careful assembly of the suspension, running gear, and turret. It is recommended to paint the turret interior parts before final assembly, as some details become difficult to access afterward. Working with photo-etched parts requires precision tweezers and cyanoacrylate glue.

For painting the Dutch CV9035, modern NATO camouflage colors are recommended — a common choice is the three-color NATO Green / NATO Brown / NATO Black camouflage using paints from AK Real Colors, Mig Ammo, or Mr. Hobby Aqueous ranges. Dutch vehicles are also seen in solid dark green finishes. A matte varnish provides a realistic military appearance. To emphasize suspension details, armor plates, and grilles, modelers may apply washes and pigments simulating dust and mud.

About the vehicle – CV90-35 NL IFV:

The CV90 (Combat Vehicle 90, Swedish designation Stridsfordon 90) is a family of Swedish infantry fighting vehicles developed during the 1980s by Hägglunds (now BAE Systems Hägglunds) in cooperation with Bofors. The vehicle entered Swedish military service in 1993 and has since evolved through several generations exported to many NATO and partner nations — including Norway, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

The CV9035 (Mk III) version armed with the 35 mm Bushmaster III autocannon was designed to counter modern battlefield threats, including lightly armored combat vehicles. The vehicle features advanced observation and targeting systems, modular armor, space for a full infantry squad, and modern battlefield communication and data-sharing systems. The Dutch version (CV9035NL) differs from standard vehicles in several external details, including the engine deck layout, the arrangement of storage boxes around the turret, and the commander/gunner hatch configuration.

The CV9035NL entered service with the Royal Netherlands Army in 2007, replacing older YPR-765 vehicles. These IFVs currently serve in the 13th and 43rd Mechanized Brigades. Dutch CV9035 vehicles are currently undergoing a mid-life upgrade program that introduces modern battlefield management systems and the Iron Fist-Light Decoupled active protection system.
