H0 scale PKP Fhx luggage coach from Era III

This H0 scale (1:87) model represents a luggage coach of type Fhx used by the Polish State Railways (PKP), produced by Roco. The prototype originates from the German Pw4ü Pr 07 luggage coach design and was widely used in passenger and express trains for transporting luggage and railway parcels.

The model faithfully reproduces the distinctive features of this type of luggage coach. Four sliding doors allowed convenient loading and unloading of luggage and parcels, while the centrally positioned roof observation cabin enabled the train conductor to monitor the train during operation.

Thanks to the standard NEM coupling pocket with close coupling mechanism, the coach can easily be combined with passenger coaches from various manufacturers. The model can also be equipped with interior lighting, which further enhances the realism of passenger train formations on a model railway layout.

About the Fhx luggage coaches

Fhx luggage coaches originated from the German Pw4ü Pr 07 design built for the Prussian State Railways in the early 20th century. These vehicles were designed for use in passenger and express trains where they served for transporting luggage, parcels and equipment required for train operation.

After World War II many of these coaches became part of the rolling stock of the Polish State Railways. Their solid construction and large capacity allowed them to remain in service for many years in various passenger train formations.

A characteristic feature of these coaches was the roof-mounted conductor’s observation cabin, which enabled better monitoring of the train while in motion. During Era III such luggage coaches could be seen in numerous passenger trains operating across the Polish railway network.
