Camouflage paint masks – a repeatable pattern without freehand spraying

Reproducing a multi-colour camouflage scheme in 1:72 requires a very fine spray pattern and a steady hand — the patches are small and the transitions between them are short. Ready-cut masks give a repeatable colour division that follows the reference pattern, with either hard or softly blended edges depending on the spraying technique you choose.

A typical approach is to apply the masks over a fully cured base coat, press the edges down, spray several thin coats of the next colour with an airbrush and lift the masks once the paint has dried. It is worth making sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease — the mask then sits better and the edge comes out crisp.
