About the Gremyashchiy (Project 7) destroyer:
The Soviet destroyer Gremyashchiy was part of the Project 7 (Gnevny-class) series and served with the Northern Fleet during World War II. It escorted Arctic convoys, engaged German submarines and aircraft, and became one of the best-known Soviet warships of the war, symbolizing courage and endurance under Arctic conditions.
About the Anshan-class (Type 07) destroyer:
The Anshan-class destroyers were former Soviet Project 7 ships transferred to China in the mid-1950s, forming the foundation of the early People’s Liberation Army Navy. Four ships – Anshan, Fushun, Changchun, and Taiyuan – served as key combat units for decades and were later modernized (Type 07II) with improved radar and missile systems. The lead ship Anshan now serves as a museum vessel.
About the SY-1 missile system:
The SY-1 was a Chinese development of the Soviet P-15 Termit (NATO: Styx) anti-ship missile. Deployed from the 1960s onward, it significantly enhanced the strike capability of the PLA Navy. The inclusion of the SY-1 launcher and missile in this kit highlights the technological evolution from gun-based destroyers to missile-equipped combatants.
Technical data (real ships and missile):
- Gremyashchiy (Project 7): length 112.8 m, 37 knots, 1,612 t, armament: 4 × 130 mm guns, 2 × triple 533 mm torpedo tubes.
