Tamiya 12620 is a display base set together with the parts needed to present the Fieseler Fi 156C Storch in flight. Besides the base itself and a metal rod, the box contains parts the standard kit does not have: bent landing gear legs and leg fairings with extended shock absorbers. They reproduce the unloaded gear of an aircraft that has just lifted off - the detail that makes an in-flight display convincing.

The model lifts off the stand easily, so it can be shown airborne one day and in ground configuration the next. The set is intended for the Tamiya Fieseler Fi 156C Storch (61100) and also fits the 21073 and 25158 releases. The base model is sold separately - this box contains the accessory parts only.

The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch was a German liaison and observation aircraft best known for its exceptionally short take-off and landing performance. Its elaborate wing high-lift devices allowed it to get airborne and touch down within distances unattainable for other machines.

Thanks to these qualities the Storch could operate where there were no airfields: it was used for casualty evacuation, reconnaissance flights and liaison duties, flying from improvised meadows and roads. Its distinctive long-legged silhouette with a heavily glazed cabin made it one of the most recognisable auxiliary aircraft of the Second World War.
