Description

Universal Tamiya carbon pattern decal sheet — twill weave, fine

The diagonal herringbone of a twill weave is what most people picture when they think of carbon — it is the weave found most often on real carbon fibre components. Tamiya 12681 reproduces exactly that weave on a universal waterslide decal sheet with no pre-printed shapes: you cut it yourself to any size and outline.

The 130 x 190 mm sheet carries a twill weave in a fine pattern size. Tamiya indicates it is suitable for static models in scales from 1:6 to 1:24 — cars and motorcycles, including spoilers, winglets and body panels.

Carbon pattern decals — a carbon look without difficult painting

Carbon pattern decals are waterslide decals reproducing the weave of carbon fibre. They deliver the look of carbon parts — bonnets, roofs, spoilers, interior panels — without the painting work that such a regular, fine pattern would otherwise require.

A twill weave produces the characteristic diagonal herringbone and is the pattern most commonly seen on real carbon fibre parts, which makes it a natural choice wherever you want an immediately recognisable, authentic carbon look. The fine designation refers to the size of the weave: a finer pattern reads better in smaller scales and on small parts.

The decals go onto a smooth, glossy surface. It helps to prepare the area with gloss clear, cut a slightly oversized piece from the sheet, apply it and work it into the shape of the part — on curved surfaces a decal softener (for example Mark Fit) is useful. Once dry, seal the area with clear coat.

Applications — a universal sheet for any model

The sheet is not tied to any particular kit. With no pre-printed shapes you have complete freedom over what you cover and in what outline. That suits conversions, scratch work and details that dedicated sheets do not include, and a single sheet usually stretches across several projects.

Tamiya indicates the sheet is suitable for static models in scales from 1:6 to 1:24 — cars and motorcycles. Typical uses include spoilers, winglets, body panels and interior details.
