Tamiya 35306 is a set of five figures depicting a Russian anti-tank team from WWII. The soldiers are shown in natural, well-balanced poses, with a PTRD anti-tank rifle and a Maxim heavy machine gun, allowing a dynamic anti-armour combat scene to be built.

Building the set:

Each figure is made up of several parts that fit together easily thanks to good engineering. The individual parts, especially the faces and equipment, are best painted before final assembly. It is worth planning the arrangement of the figures and weapons in advance so that the anti-tank defence scene forms a coherent composition.

For painting Soviet uniforms of the period, a khaki base shade works well, complemented by leather, metal and wood tones. The uniform folds and small parts benefit from a wash and dry-brushing.

• Files and sandpaper for cleaning up sprue-gate marks

About the figures – Russian anti-tank team:

During WWII, Soviet infantry fought German armoured vehicles using, among other things, anti-tank rifles. One of these was the PTRD (Protivotankovoye Ruzhyo Degtyaryova) – a single-shot 14.5 mm rifle with a range of around 800 m. Teams armed with the PTRD often set up ambushes among ruins and buildings, waiting for approaching vehicles.

The figures in this set let you recreate such a scene and pair perfectly with Soviet vehicles and Eastern Front dioramas. The varied poses and included weapons make it easy to build a dynamic, story-telling composition.
