Building the set:

Each figure is made up of several parts that fit together easily thanks to good engineering. The individual parts, especially the faces and equipment, are best painted before final assembly. It is worth planning the arrangement of the figures in advance so that the checkpoint scene forms a coherent composition.

For painting German field uniforms, a feldgrau base shade works well, complemented by leather, metal and detail tones. The characteristic feature of the military police – the metal gorget on the chest – is worth highlighting, with the uniform folds and small parts emphasised by a wash and dry-brushing.

About the figures – German field military police (Feldgendarmerie):

During WWII, most German divisions had their own field military police platoons. Their duties included directing traffic along routes of advance and resupply, manning checkpoints, handling prisoners and deserters, and maintaining order in occupied territories.

Military police soldiers were distinguished by insignia on the left sleeve of the uniform and by a characteristic metal gorget worn on the chest, which led regular soldiers to give them the derisive nickname “chain dogs”. The figures in this set let you recreate a typical checkpoint scene and pair perfectly with German vehicles and dioramas from various theatres of operations.
