Tamiya 87239 – Modeling Brush Rest (brush stand)

Tamiya 87239 is a functional rest for holding modelling brushes during painting. It lets you set brushes down conveniently so the bristles do not touch the work surface, reducing the risk of deforming the tips and staining the bench with paint.

The rest is supplied as an assembly kit – simply fold the four sides together and connect them with the tabs. It is made of polypropylene. The edge on the brush-tip side is lower, so paint does not run towards the handle, and protective brush caps can be stored within the tray area.

Features and use

The rest is assembled once by folding its sides and engaging the tabs. Brushes sit in the shaped indentations – four larger and three smaller – so you can keep several tools at hand, sorted by size. A palette up to about 12 mm high can be placed under the brush tips to catch any paint drips.

A separately sold Tamiya anti-slip sticker (item 87227) can be used to keep the rest steady on the bench.

Applications

The accessory is useful when brush-painting plastic models, figures, vehicles, ships and car models, as well as during finishing work and applying washes. It helps keep the workspace tidy and protects brush tips between painting stages.
