About the IJN Yamato battleship:

IJN Yamato was the largest battleship ever built, armed with nine 460 mm main guns. Launched in 1940 and commissioned in 1941, she became a symbol of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s strength. Yamato took part in several Pacific War operations, and in April 1945 was sunk during Operation Ten-Gō by overwhelming U.S. carrier aircraft. Her sinking marked the dramatic end of the battleship era.
