About the IJN Yamato battleship:

IJN Yamato was the largest battleship ever built, armed with nine massive 460 mm guns. Launched in 1940 and commissioned in 1941, she became a symbol of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s might. Yamato participated in several Pacific operations, and in April 1945 was sunk during Operation Ten-Gō by overwhelming U.S. carrier-based air power. Her loss marked both the end of the battleship era and the decline of Japan’s naval supremacy.
