Zebrano 72026 - 1:72 ZIS-6 w/ Quadruple Machine Gun 4M

Zebrano 72026 is a self-assembly kit reproducing the Soviet three-axle ZiS-6 truck with a quadruple anti-aircraft Maxim 4M 7.62 mm machine gun mount in the cargo bed. The kit depicts an improvised anti-aircraft platform typical of the Red Army.

The model combines several technologies: plastic sprues, precise resin parts and rubber tyres.

Note: This kit does not include glue, paint or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Building the model:

The model combines plastic sprues with resin parts, so both plastic cement and cyanoacrylate glue for the resin parts will be useful. It is worth washing the resin parts before painting. The quadruple gun mount is best assembled and painted separately.

Soviet military vehicles were usually painted in a uniform protective green (shade 4BO). Details are best emphasised with a wash, and the whole sealed with a matt varnish.

• Modelling nippers for removing parts from the sprues
• Hobby knife or scalpel
• Files and sanding paper for cleaning up sprue-gate marks
• Plastic cement (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement)
• Brushes in various sizes
• Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
• Modelling wash to emphasise details and recesses

About the vehicle – ZiS-6 with Maxim 4M:

The ZiS-6 is a three-axle (6x4) version of the ZiS-5 truck, offering better mobility in difficult terrain and greater load capacity. The vehicle was used among other roles as a carrier for Katyusha rocket launchers and for transport and towing.

The quadruple Maxim 4M machine gun mount combined four water-cooled 7.62 mm machine guns on a common anti-aircraft base. Mounted on a truck, it formed a mobile platform capable of engaging low-flying aircraft and enemy personnel.
