Resin elements are add-ons that enhance a plastic model kits - they can be cast or 3D printed.

They make it possible to render much more and much finer details than possible with injection molding technology. Due to the ease of production, resin parts are also often found to correct improperly designed details in a plastic model. Resin parts are also used to add detail to the model, which can result in the need to cut and rework some plastic parts. In the case of short run production models, they can be a necessary part of the kit.
