Eduard CX212 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Nimrod model (Airfix) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX212 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Nimrod model from Airfix. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Hawker Siddeley / BAe Nimrod (British jet maritime patrol aircraft):

The Nimrod was a British jet maritime patrol aircraft developed from the de Havilland Comet airliner. It was a low-wing monoplane with four turbofan engines set in the wing roots and a large weapons bay added beneath the fuselage. It first flew in 1967 and entered service with the Royal Air Force late in the decade, replacing older piston-engine patrol aircraft in the anti-submarine role.

The aircraft carried torpedoes, depth charges and mines, and in later variants also anti-ship missiles and self-defence rockets. Extensive electronic equipment and long endurance made it effective in long-range patrol. The Nimrod also served in electronic reconnaissance versions. A modernisation programme to the MRA4 standard was cancelled, and the last examples were withdrawn from service in 2011.
