Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Junkers Ju 52/3m:

The Junkers Ju 52/3m was a German three-engined transport and airliner, recognisable by its corrugated duralumin skin. It appeared in the early 1930s, developed from the single-engined Ju 52 by adding two wing-mounted engines, hence the 3m designation. Its all-metal construction was durable, simple to service and able to operate from rough field airstrips.

Initially used as an airliner, the Ju 52/3m became the Luftwaffe's standard transport during the Second World War. It carried troops and supplies, dropped paratroopers and towed gliders, taking part in airborne operations. It was also used commercially for many years after the war. Several thousand were built, including under licence.

Original specifications (Junkers Ju 52/3m):

  • Length: 18.90 m
  • Wingspan: 29.25 m
  • Height: 4.52 m
  • Take-off weight: approx. 11,000 kg
  • Crew: 3 + up to 18 troops
  • Powerplant: 3 x BMW 132 radials, approx. 725 hp each
  • Max speed: approx. 270 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 5900 m
  • Range: approx. 1000 km
  • Armament: defensive machine guns (military versions)
  • Production: over 4800 built, from 1931
