Eduard EX099 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the F-86F Sabre model from Academy/AFV Club. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – North American F-86 Sabre (A and F):

The North American F-86 Sabre is an American single-engine first-generation jet fighter, one of the first built with swept wings, which gave it high performance in the transonic speed range. It was a low-wing aircraft with an air intake in the fuselage nose and gun armament concentrated in the nose. The cockpit was covered by a bubble canopy giving good visibility.

The Sabre became famous in the Korean War, where it engaged in dogfights with MiG-15 fighters. The F-86A version was an early production variant, while the F-86F received a more powerful engine and an improved wing enhancing high-altitude performance. The aircraft served with the air forces of many nations and was built under licence. More than 9000 examples were built.
