Eduard EX249 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the J-35 Draken model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Saab J-35 Draken:

The Saab J-35 Draken is a Swedish single-seat fighter of the 1950s, distinguished by its unusual double-delta wing. This layout provided good performance at both high and lower speeds while accommodating fuel and equipment. It was powered by a single afterburning turbojet, a licence-built variant of the British Rolls-Royce Avon. The design was created for intercepting bombers within Sweden's dispersed air-defence system.

The Draken entered service in 1960 and for decades formed the core of Swedish fighter aviation, and also served with Denmark, Finland and Austria. Numerous interceptor, strike and reconnaissance versions were produced, differing in avionics and armament; the J-35F version described here was an interceptor with an elaborate fire-control fit. More than 600 examples of all versions were built.
