Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges
Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.
The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.
About the aircraft – SPAD S.XIII (World War I fighter):
The SPAD S.XIII is a French single-seat World War I fighter biplane, a development of the successful SPAD S.VII with a more powerful engine and a second machine gun. Designed by Louis Bechereau, it first flew in 1917 and entered service the same year. It was fast and sturdy in a dive, though less agile than some opponents; it was valued for its structural strength.
It was one of the most numerous and effective Allied fighters of the late war; leading aces flew it, including Georges Guynemer and Rene Fonck, and Eddie Rickenbacker in American service. It was used by France, the United States, Italy and Britain. About 8,472 examples were produced; after the war it served as a trainer in many countries.
