Eduard JX338 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Hs 123A model from ICM. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:32
  • Catalogue number: JX338
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Hs 123A from ICM
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Henschel Hs 123:

The Henschel Hs 123 is a German ground-attack and dive-bomber aircraft of biplane layout, developed by Henschel in the mid-1930s. It was a single-seat machine with a metal structure, a partly fabric-covered fuselage, fixed landing gear and an open cockpit. It was powered by a BMW radial engine. It entered Luftwaffe service in 1936 and received its baptism of fire in Spain.

Although conceived as an interim solution, the Hs 123 remained in front-line use far longer than intended, proving effective in close support of ground forces. It was used during the campaigns in Poland, the West, the Balkans and on the Eastern Front, where its toughness and ability to operate from improvised airfields were valued. About 265 examples were built, and production ended before the outbreak of the war.

Original specifications (Henschel Hs 123):

  • Length: 8.33 m
  • Wingspan: 10.50 m
  • Height: 3.20 m
  • Take-off weight: approx. 2,215 kg
  • Crew: 1
  • Powerplant: 1 x BMW 132Dc radial, approx. 656 kW (880 hp)
  • Maximum speed: approx. 340 km/h
  • Service ceiling: approx. 9,000 m
  • Range: approx. 860 km
  • Armament: 2 x 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns and up to approx. 450 kg of bombs
  • Production: 1936-1938, approx. 265 built
