Eduard JX266 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Fiat CR.42 model (ICM) in 1:32 scale

Eduard JX266 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Fiat CR.42 model from ICM. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Fiat CR.42 Falco:

The Fiat CR.42 Falco is an Italian biplane fighter developed by Fiat under Celestino Rosatelli in the second half of the 1930s. It was a development of the earlier CR.32 and retained a sesquiplane layout with Warren-truss bracing and an open cockpit. The metal-framed fuselage was covered with sheet and fabric. It entered Italian air force service in 1939, at a time when the biplane fighter was already an obsolescent solution.

Despite the dated layout the aircraft was agile and saw action over France, Britain, North Africa, Greece and the Balkans. It was also used by Belgium, Hungary and Sweden. Fighter, night-fighter and ground-attack and reconnaissance versions adapted to carry bombs were produced. About 1,780 examples were built in total, making the CR.42 the most numerous Italian aircraft of the period.
