1:35 scale plastic model kit of the US M76 “Otter” Amphibious Cargo Carrier – Late Production

This Gecko Models kit represents the US M76 Otter, a light tracked amphibious cargo carrier developed in the 1950s as a replacement for the WWII-era M29 Weasel. The Otter was used extensively by the US Marine Corps and US Army for transporting troops and supplies across difficult terrain, including water obstacles. The late-production variant included structural improvements and updated fittings, as used during the Vietnam War.

About the M76 Otter:

The M76 “Otter” was a light amphibious cargo carrier developed by the Pontiac Division of General Motors in the late 1940s and entered service in 1958. Powered by a GMC 302 engine, it could carry up to one ton of cargo and traverse water, mud, or snow. The vehicle was armed with an M60 machine gun and used in Arctic, temperate, and tropical environments, including combat operations in Vietnam. The Otter remained in service until replaced by more modern amphibious transports in the 1970s.
