Italeri 6766 depicts the VTLM Lince – the Italian designation for the Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle), a lightweight four-wheeled tactical vehicle developed by Iveco Defence Vehicles in Bolzano and adopted by the Italian Army in 2001. It features an armored crew capsule separated from the chassis, a V-shaped hull for protection against IEDs, independent double-wishbone suspension on all four wheels, and 4×4 drive with a differential lock.

The kit is based on the Italeri 6504 mold, with a new 2026 decal sheet expanding the number of paint options to 9 variants. The included photo-etched parts allow for precise reproduction of ventilation grilles, handles, and external accessories, while the rubber tires faithfully reproduce the shape of the off-road tires used on the Lince.

Model assembly:

The kit is intended for modelers with intermediate experience. Attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate (CA) glue ; fit the rubber tires onto the plastic rims before final wheel assembly. When painting, pay attention to the modular armor panels—they are usually a slightly different shade than the rest of the body, which creates an interesting effect.

The base color of the Lince in Italian service is olive green (NATO Olive Drab) or sandy brown khaki, depending on the theater of operations. Vehicles in Afghanistan often wore a solid desert tan or two-tone desert camouflage. The 2026 decals include variants from various missions and operating countries.

The Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a light multi-role tactical vehicle developed by Iveco Defence Vehicles in Bolzano in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and has been in production since 2001. The Italian Army adopted it under the designation VTLM Lince (Veicolo Tattico Leggero Multiruolo – Lince means lynx). The vehicle is distinguished by a raised V-shaped hull that minimizes the effects of mine and IED explosions, modular armor that adapts the level of protection to the mission (STANAG 4569 standard), a 4×4 drivetrain with differential locks, and a 190-horsepower FPT F1D turbodiesel engine.

The VTLM Lince proved itself in combat conditions during the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, where Italian vehicles survived numerous IED attacks while protecting their crews. The Lince is also in service on UN missions in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Balkans. Outside of Italy, various variants of the vehicle are operated by, among others, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Norway, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom (as the Panther CLV). A total of over 4,000 units have been produced.
