Mr.Hobby Enhanced Weathering Color (EWC) is an improved line of oil-based paints designed for weathering effects. The Multi Black shade is perfect for shading, panel accenting, and creating soot, grime, and grease effects.

The Mr.Hobby Weathering Color series offers high-quality, oil-based paints developed for creating realistic weathering effects. They are suitable for washes, panel lining, streaking, rust, dust, and filtering. With a smooth, fluid consistency, they are easy to apply for both beginners and experienced modelers. Rich pigments suspended in an oil base allow for precise control and easy blending. The oil base allows easy modification or removal of the achieved effect. Compatible with Mr. Color, Aqueous Hobby Color, Acrysion, and bare plastic (should not be mixed with water-based weathering products). The dedicated Weathering Color Thinner (WCT201) is recommended to protect the painted surface, but other enamel thinners can also be used. The EWC line features improved child-lock caps and stainless steel mixing balls in each bottle.

They quickly improve the look of a model, making it less like a toy. Washes are best used for highlighting panel lines and recessed or raised details, then wiping away the excess to create edge definition and false shadows. In modeling, oil-based washes are most common, as they can be cleaned and adjusted using white spirit or enamel thinner without damaging the underlying paint. Washes are best applied over a glossy acrylic clear coat to improve flow and allow complete removal if necessary. For effective washes, use a color much darker than the model’s base coat.
