T-Model A35002 is a scenery element representing a German loading ramp in 1:35, 3D printed in resin. 3D printed scenery – large structures without scratchbuilding

Resin 3D printing works well for scenery with clear, repeating structure – beams, planking, concrete edges – because it can reproduce them as one rigid piece instead of assembling them from strips. For the modeller that means a ready-made base for the scene, so the work goes into the finish: wood tones, grime, track marks and blending the ramp into the ground.

Faint layer lines and remnants of support structures may be visible on prints. Before assembly it is worth removing them with a knife and smoothing the surface with abrasive paper, then washing the part and applying primer – a primer coat immediately shows whether the surface is smooth enough. Resin parts are joined with cyanoacrylate glue.

How to use:

It is a good idea to dry-fit the three parts first using the pins and sockets, and only then bond them with cyanoacrylate glue. Once primed, the ramp takes acrylic paint well, and the wooden and concrete surfaces benefit from washes and drybrushing to vary the tones. Terrain pastes and scatter fixed with diluted white glue help settle the ramp into the groundwork, so its edge blends into the terrain rather than stopping abruptly.

Historical background – German loading ramps (Verladerampe):

Loading ramps, or Verladerampe, were the fixed and field end-loading ramps used for Wehrmacht rail transports. Railways were the backbone of moving heavy armour over long distances – tanks were driven onto Ssy, Ssys, SSkra and Ssyms flatcars, with road marches reserved for the final leg.

Ramps were built from timber beams, concrete or compacted earth with a surface facing. For improvised loading away from stations with permanent infrastructure, embankments and field ramps were used. Those scenes – makeshift loading somewhere on a siding – are among the most frequently modelled diorama subjects.
