Description

Resin set of three KV-1 tanks (a platoon) in 1:100 scale

Zebrano 100-335P3 is a set of three Soviet KV-1 heavy tanks in 1:100 scale, prepared with wargaming and small dioramas in mind. The multipack lets you build a whole platoon of spring 1941 vehicles in a single purchase.

The model is produced as a resin casting, typical of the Zebrano 1:100 series intended for wargaming and small dioramas. The kit does not include decals — the painting is left to the modeller.

What's in the box:

  • Three sets of resin KV-1 parts
  • Instructions / set card

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:100
  • Catalogue number: 100-335P3
  • Manufacturer: Zebrano
  • Single assembled model length: approx. 67.5 mm
  • Number of vehicles: 3
  • Difficulty level: beginner/intermediate

Note: This kit does not include glue, paint or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Building the model:

The small resin models consist of a limited number of parts, which makes it easy to assemble a whole platoon quickly. The parts are cut from the casting blocks, cleaned and washed before painting, and glued with cyanoacrylate.

Soviet heavy tanks were usually painted in a uniform protective green (shade 4BO). Details are best emphasised with a wash, and the whole sealed with a matt varnish.

Required tools:

  • Razor saw or nippers to remove resin parts from the casting blocks
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sanding paper for working resin parts
  • Cyanoacrylate glue (for resin parts)
  • Brushes in various sizes
  • Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • Modelling wash to emphasise details

About the vehicle – KV-1:

The KV-1 (Kliment Voroshilov) is a Soviet heavy tank which in 1941 had armour resistant to almost all contemporary German anti-tank weapons. The spring 1941 version was armed with a 76.2 mm gun and had a welded turret.

Despite its heavy armour, the KV-1 suffered from an unreliable drivetrain, especially the transmission. It nonetheless remained a formidable opponent in the early period of the war on the Eastern Front.

Original specifications (KV-1, spring 1941):

  • Length: approx. 6.75 m
  • Width: approx. 3.32 m
  • Height: approx. 2.71 m
  • Main armament: 76.2 mm gun
  • Class: heavy tank
  • Period: 1941
