Description

Resin model of the KV-8 flamethrower tank in 1:100 scale

Zebrano Z100-338 is a model of the Soviet KV-8 flamethrower tank in 1:100 scale. The kit reproduces a combat variant of the KV-1 intended for infantry support and close combat, prepared with wargaming and small dioramas in mind.

The model is produced as a resin casting, typical of the Zebrano 1:100 series intended for wargaming and small dioramas. The kit does not include decals — the painting is left to the modeller.

What's in the box:

  • Resin KV-8 parts
  • Instructions / set card

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:100
  • Catalogue number: Z100-338
  • Manufacturer: Zebrano
  • Assembled length: approx. 67.5 mm
  • Difficulty level: beginner/intermediate

Note: This kit does not include glue, paint or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Building the model:

The small resin model consists of a limited number of parts. The parts are cut from the casting blocks, cleaned and washed before painting, and glued with cyanoacrylate.

Soviet heavy tanks were usually painted in a uniform protective green (shade 4BO). Details are best emphasised with a wash, and the whole sealed with a matt varnish.

Required tools:

  • Razor saw or nippers to remove resin parts from the casting blocks
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sanding paper for working resin parts
  • Cyanoacrylate glue (for resin parts)
  • Brushes in various sizes
  • Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • Modelling wash to emphasise details

About the vehicle – KV-8:

The KV-8 is a variant of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank armed with an ATO-41 flamethrower mounted in the turret alongside the gun. To fit the flamethrower installation in the cramped turret, the 76 mm gun was replaced by a 45 mm gun, hidden in a thick jacket imitating the larger barrel.

KV-8 vehicles were used in 1942 for infantry support, fighting in built-up areas and reducing fortifications, where the flamethrower was particularly effective.

Original specifications (KV-8):

  • Length: approx. 6.75 m
  • Armament: ATO-41 flamethrower and a 45 mm gun
  • Base vehicle: KV-1 heavy tank
  • Role: infantry support, close combat
  • Class: flamethrower heavy tank
  • Period: 1942
