Polystyrene (plastic) glue is the primary agent used in reduction modeling.

Each type of this glue works by dissolving a small layer of plastic, which hardens as the glue evaporates. In this way, a permanent and strong bond of plastic parts can be achieved. The basic and most popular type of plastic glue is one with a thick or medium consistency, applied to the parts with a brush or, for greater precision, with a needle. It evaporates quite slowly, giving you time to improve the fit of the parts. It requires pressing the glued surfaces together with a squeeze or a rubber band for drying time. A modern approach to the subject are adhesives of a thin consistency, so-called "extra thin", which is applied between two dry fitted parts of the model kit. They bond the parts well and evaporate much faster than typical adhesives, so the parts most often do not require prolonged holding. Also, thanks to this, if a little glue flows outside the joint, it will evaporate without damaging the surface of the plastic. They are also good for cleanly tightening very small details. Different types of glue are complementary rather than mutually exclusive in a modeling workshop. It is worth having different types and using them depending on the situation.
