  • Mask placement instructions

  • Scale: 1:48

  • Dedicated kit: CH-46 Sea Knight from Academy
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight:

The CH-46 Sea Knight is a medium transport helicopter of tandem-rotor configuration, powered by two turboshaft engines. The design with two counter-rotating rotors needs no tail rotor, giving good stability and high payload in a compact airframe. The fuselage has a rear loading ramp that eases the carriage of troops and cargo.

Introduced in the mid-1960s, for decades it was the standard medium transport helicopter of the United States Marine Corps and Navy, used for troop movement, ship replenishment and rescue missions. It served in Vietnam and in Middle East conflicts, among others. It was gradually replaced by the MV-22 Osprey.

Original specifications (Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight):

  • Fuselage length: 13.9 m
  • Rotor diameter: 15.2 m
  • Height: 5.1 m
  • Empty weight: 5100 kg
  • Take-off weight: 11,000 kg
  • Crew: 3-4
  • Powerplant: 2x General Electric T58 turboshaft, approx. 1870 hp each
  • Max speed: 267 km/h
  • Ceiling: 5180 m
  • Range: 660 km
  • Capacity: up to 25 troops; production from 1962, approx. 690 units
