  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:35
  • Catalogue number: JX055
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: CH-47A/D Chinook from Trumpeter
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Boeing CH-47 Chinook:

The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is an American heavy-lift transport helicopter of tandem-rotor layout, developed by Vertol (later Boeing) at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. Two counter-rotating main rotors, set one behind the other, remove the need for a tail rotor and provide great stability and lifting capacity. Cargo is loaded through a rear ramp, and loads can also be carried on underslung hooks.

The Chinook entered service in 1962 and remains in production and operation in numerous countries to this day, having undergone successive upgrades up to the CH-47F and MH-47G versions. It was used intensively in Vietnam, and later in many conflicts for moving troops, artillery and supplies and for evacuation. Many variants were produced, differing in engines, avionics and special equipment. More than 1,200 examples have been built.

Original specifications (Boeing CH-47 Chinook):

  • Crew: 3
  • Length (fuselage): 15.9 m
  • Rotor diameter: 18.3 m (each of two)
  • Height: 5.7 m
  • Empty/take-off weight: 11,150 kg / 22,680 kg
  • Powerplant: 2 x Honeywell T55 turboshafts, approx. 3,500-4,700 hp each (depending on version)
  • Max speed: approx. 300 km/h
  • Ceiling: 5,640 m
  • Range: approx. 740 km
  • Armament: provision for 2-3 machine guns (defensive); payload up to approx. 10,000 kg
  • Production: over 1,200 (from 1962, still in production)
