About class 103 locomotives:
The class 103 (formerly E 03) locomotives were developed in the 1960s as the most powerful locomotives of the Deutsche Bundesbahn for heavy passenger train service. Between 1970 and 1974, 145 production units were built.
The later locomotives, including 103 233, featured an extended cab for improved working conditions. In later years, some units received special liveries such as Verkehrsrot, highlighting their iconic status.
