Description

Plastic model kit of the British Cromwell Mk.IV cruiser tank in 1:35 scale

Tamiya 35221 depicts the Cromwell Mk.IV – a fast British cruiser tank of the late Second World War. Thanks to its powerful Rolls-Royce Meteor engine (derived from the Merlin aero engine), the machine reached high speed, while its 75 mm gun allowed it to engage both armoured targets and infantry. The model faithfully captures the tank's characteristic angular shape.

What's in the box:

  • Plastic sprues with hull, turret and running-gear parts
  • 75 mm gun
  • Reproduced road wheels and tracks
  • Decal sheet and illustrated assembly instructions

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:35
  • Item number: 35221
  • Manufacturer: Tamiya
  • Assembled length: approx. 181 mm
  • Skill level: beginner/intermediate

Note: glue, paints and modelling tools are not included. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Building the model:

As a Tamiya-tooled kit it features good parts fit. The angular shape makes it easy to paint the surfaces evenly; emphasise the final result with a wash, dry-brushing and operational weathering.

Tools you'll need:

  • Modelling nippers for removing parts from the sprues
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper for cleaning up sprue-gate marks
  • Plastic cement (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement)
  • Brushes of various sizes and modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • Panel-line wash to emphasise detail, plus dry-brushing
  • Pigments and paints for weathering effects (mud, dust, rust)

About the vehicle – Cromwell Mk.IV:

The Cromwell was one of the main British cruiser tanks of the late war. Combining a powerful engine with good mobility made it one of the fastest machines of the period. These tanks fought, among other places, in Western Europe after the Normandy landings.

  • Width: approx. 2.9 m
  • Height: approx. 2.5 m
