Zebrano 35003 is a self-assembly kit reproducing the Soviet OB-25 76 mm regimental gun, model 1943 — a light infantry support weapon firing in the direct-fire role. The kit allows the gun to be reproduced in firing position with the trails spread, or in travelling configuration.

The model is produced as a resin casting, supplemented with precise photo-etched parts that raise the level of small detail.

Building the model:

This resin model with photo-etched parts is aimed at modellers with some experience. The resin parts are cut from the casting blocks and glued with cyanoacrylate; the small photo-etched parts require precise work. It is worth washing the parts before painting to remove any mould-release residue.

Soviet field guns were usually painted in a uniform protective green (shade 4BO). Details are best emphasised with a wash, and the whole sealed with a matt varnish.

About the gun – OB-25 76 mm m.1943:

The Soviet model 1943 regimental gun is a light infantry support weapon created by mounting a modernised 76.2 mm barrel from the older model 1927 regimental gun on the light carriage of the 45 mm anti-tank gun. This produced a lighter design that was easier to handle.

The gun was used for direct fire support of infantry, engaging light fortifications and enemy personnel. The use of shaped-charge ammunition gave it a limited anti-armour capability. The weapon was produced in large numbers between 1943 and 1945.
