Turned metal barrels – a quick model upgrade

Replacing plastic barrels with turned metal ones is one of the simplest ways to raise the quality of a ship model. Metal barrels have a perfectly round cross-section and crisp muzzle edges that are hard to achieve in plastic parts.

Bismarck and Tirpitz were two German battleships of the same class from the Second World War. Their main armament consisted of eight 380 mm guns mounted in four twin turrets.

Bismarck was sunk in May 1941, while Tirpitz remained a threat to Allied convoys until its destruction in 1944. Both ships are among the most frequently modelled units of the German Kriegsmarine.
