Road wheel masks – even edges on the rubber tyres

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model road wheels, letting you paint the rubber tyres separately from the hubs. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving a sharp, even boundary between the metal hub and the rubber without freehand painting.

The masks are applied to the wheels, the tyre or hub colour is airbrushed, and the masks are removed once dry. The set greatly speeds up one of the more tedious steps in painting a vehicle.

About the vehicle – M113:

The M113 is an American tracked armoured personnel carrier introduced into service in 1960. Its hull is made of welded aluminium alloy plates, giving a light, amphibious structure capable of air transport and crossing water obstacles. The original version had a petrol engine, and from the M113A1 variant a Detroit Diesel engine was fitted. The vehicle carries an infantry squad protected from fragments and small-arms fire, with a heavy machine gun as standard armament.

The M113 became one of the most numerously produced and widely used armoured personnel carriers, operated by dozens of nations. It saw combat in Vietnam, the Middle East and many later conflicts. A broad family of vehicles was built on its chassis: self-propelled mortars, command, ambulance, anti-aircraft and engineering vehicles. Successive upgrades such as the M113A2 and M113A3 improved the powertrain, protection and equipment, extending the design's service life.

Original specifications (M113):

  • Length: 4.86 m
  • Width: 2.69 m
  • Height: 2.5 m
  • Combat weight: approx. 12.3 t
  • Crew: 2 + 11 dismounts
  • Armament: 12.7 mm M2 heavy machine gun
  • Armour: aluminium alloy, up to approx. 38 mm
  • Engine: Detroit Diesel 6V53 (diesel), 215 hp
  • Max. speed: approx. 66 km/h (water approx. 5.8 km/h)
  • Range: approx. 480 km
  • Drive: tracked, amphibious
  • Production: from 1960
