Painting masks for the model – faster, more accurate painting

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model, making it easier to paint selected areas – depending on the set these may be the road wheels, glazing or other details. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp, even edges without hand masking with tape.

The masks are applied to the model before spraying and removed once the paint has dried. The set speeds up painting and improves its precision.

About the vehicle – Kfz.2 - German light signals car (le.gl.Einheits-Pkw):

Kfz.2 is the designation for the signals version of the light off-road standardised car le.gl.Einheits-Pkw (leichter geländegängiger Einheits-Personenkraftwagen). It was part of a German programme to standardise military vehicles, aimed at simplifying production and parts supply. Bodies were built by various makers (Stöwer, BMW, Hanomag among others) on a common four-wheel-drive chassis, and early examples also had four-wheel steering.

The Kfz.2 version served as a radio car (Funkkraftwagen), carrying signals equipment and its operators. These cars accompanied staffs and front-line units, providing radio communications over short and medium ranges. Production ran from 1936 to 1943; the costly, complex design was eventually dropped in favour of simpler and cheaper standard vehicles based on civilian chassis.

Original specifications (Kfz.2 - German light signals car (le.gl.Einheits-Pkw)):

  • Width: 1.69 m
  • Height: 1.90 m
  • Kerb weight: approx. 1.78 t
  • Crew: 3-4
  • Engine: Stöwer AW2 petrol, 4-cylinder, 2.0 L, approx. 50 hp
  • Drive: 4x4
  • Top speed: approx. 80 km/h
  • Range: approx. 400 km
  • Production: le.gl.Einheits-Pkw, 1936-1943
