Eduard JX308 mask set – canopy painting masks for the CH-54A Tarhe model (ICM) in 1:35 scale

Eduard JX308 is a set of self-adhesive 1:35 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the CH-54A Tarhe model from ICM. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe:

The Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe is a heavy transport helicopter built as a flying crane. Its fuselage was reduced to a slim boom with a crew cabin at the front and the powerplant mounted high above, leaving the space beneath the aircraft clear for a slung load. The design was developed by Sikorsky in the early 1960s from experience with the S-60 and entered United States Army service in 1964.

The type carried containers, vehicles, engineer equipment and damaged aircraft using a load hook and an optional detachable pod. In Vietnam the CH-54 recovered downed helicopters and aeroplanes. The civil version was designated S-64 Skycrane and was used for crane, assembly and firefighting work. The CH-54A and later CH-54B differed in more powerful engines and greater payload and take-off weight.
