Road wheel masks – even edges on the rubber tyres

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model road wheels, letting you paint the rubber tyres separately from the hubs. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving a sharp, even boundary between the metal hub and the rubber without freehand painting.

The masks are applied to the wheels, the tyre or hub colour is airbrushed, and the masks are removed once dry. The set greatly speeds up one of the more tedious steps in painting a vehicle.

About the vehicle – M-50 Super Sherman (Israeli upgraded Sherman):

The M-50 Super Sherman was an Israeli upgrade of the American M4 Sherman, developed in the mid-1950s. The key change was rearming it with the French 75 mm CN 75-50 gun, derived from the AMX-13, considerably more effective than the Sherman's original 75 mm. This required rebuilding the turret and mantlet. The upgrade kept large stocks of ex-wartime and post-war Shermans in front-line service.

Two main variants were produced: an earlier one with the Continental petrol radial engine and a later M-50 with a Cummins diesel and improved HVSS suspension with wider tracks. The tank took part in the 1956 Suez Crisis and the 1967 Six-Day War. The vehicles were built as conversions of existing hulls, mainly M4A1 and M4A4, rather than as factory-new tanks.

Original specifications (M-50 Super Sherman (Israeli upgraded Sherman)):

  • Length: approx. 6.3 m (gun forward)
  • Width: 2.62 m
  • Height: 2.74 m
  • Combat weight: approx. 34 t
  • Crew: 5
  • Armament: 75 mm CN 75-50 gun, 7.62 and 12.7 mm machine guns
  • Armour: up to 76 mm (gun mantlet)
  • Engine: Continental R-975 petrol or Cummins diesel, approx. 460 hp
  • Max. speed: 40 km/h
  • Range: approx. 270 km
  • Production: conversions from 1956
