Eduard XT224 is a set of self-adhesive 1:35 masks to make painting the model easier, tailored to the SU-122 model from Zvezda. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The kit is not included.

Painting masks for the model – faster, more accurate painting

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model, making it easier to paint selected areas – depending on the set these may be the road wheels, glazing or other details. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp, even edges without hand masking with tape.

The masks are applied to the model before spraying and removed once the paint has dried. The set speeds up painting and improves its precision.

About the vehicle – SU-122 (self-propelled gun):

The SU-122 was a Soviet medium self-propelled gun developed in 1942 on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank. A 122 mm M-30S field howitzer, in a version adapted for the vehicle, was mounted in an enclosed armoured superstructure. The design was meant to provide fire support for the infantry and to destroy fortifications and strongpoints, using a heavy high-explosive shell of great effect in urban fighting and breaking through defences.

The vehicle was also used against armoured targets, though the low muzzle velocity of the shell limited its anti-tank effectiveness. Shaped-charge ammunition was tried, but with limited success. The SU-122 was produced in 1942-1943 in several hundred examples, then replaced by designs with longer-barrelled guns better suited to fighting tanks. It nonetheless remained an early example of Soviet assault guns on the T-34 chassis.
