Painting masks for the model – faster, more accurate painting

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model, making it easier to paint selected areas – depending on the set these may be the road wheels, glazing or other details. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp, even edges without hand masking with tape.

The masks are applied to the model before spraying and removed once the paint has dried. The set speeds up painting and improves its precision.

About the vehicle – T-72A (main battle tank):

The T-72A was a Soviet main battle tank, an upgraded variant of the T-72 introduced in the 1970s. It was armed with a 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore gun fed by an autoloader, allowing the crew to be reduced to three. The T-72A version, produced from 1979, received reinforced frontal armour with composite layers, a new sight with a laser rangefinder and hull side skirts, improving protection and gunnery accuracy.

The autoloader lowered the silhouette and increased the rate of fire, but stowing ammunition in the hull was a weak point of the design. The T-72 and its derivatives were mass-produced in the Soviet Union and under licence in several countries, and exported to many armies. The tank took part in numerous conflicts and received a great many upgrades, remaining in service to the present day.

Original specifications (T-72A (main battle tank)):

  • Length: 9.53 m (with gun)
  • Width: 3.59 m
  • Height: 2.19 m
  • Combat weight: approx. 41.5 t
  • Crew: 3
  • Armament: 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore gun, 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm MG
  • Armour: steel-composite (frontal)
  • Engine: V-46 diesel V12, 780 hp
  • Max. speed: 60 km/h
  • Range: approx. 500 km
  • Production: T-72A from 1979
