Eduard XT217 is a set of self-adhesive 1:35 masks for masking the rubber tyres of the road wheels during painting, tailored to the SU-76M model from Tamiya. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The kit is not included.

Road wheel masks – even edges on the rubber tyres

This set contains self-adhesive masks shaped to the model road wheels, letting you paint the rubber tyres separately from the hubs. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving a sharp, even boundary between the metal hub and the rubber without freehand painting.

The masks are applied to the wheels, the tyre or hub colour is airbrushed, and the masks are removed once dry. The set greatly speeds up one of the more tedious steps in painting a vehicle.

About the vehicle – SU-76M (light self-propelled gun):

The SU-76M was a Soviet light self-propelled gun developed on the lengthened chassis of the T-70 light tank. A 76.2 mm ZiS-3 divisional gun was mounted in a fighting compartment open at the rear and top. The 1943 SU-76M version received a unified powertrain with two GAZ engines driving a common shaft, which removed the faults of the unreliable original layout and simplified operation.

The vehicle was intended to support infantry, engage fortifications and lightly armoured targets, and, using armour-piercing ammunition, tanks as well. The open compartment gave good observation and cooperation with infantry but exposed the crew to fire and the elements. The SU-76M was the second most numerously produced Soviet armoured vehicle of World War II, built in some fifteen thousand examples.
