About the IJN Takao cruiser:

IJN Takao was the lead ship of her class, designed as a heavy cruiser under the Washington Naval Treaty limitations. Commissioned in 1932, together with her sister ships Atago, Maya and Chōkai she formed the core of Japan’s cruiser fleet. Takao took part in major World War II battles, including Midway, the Philippine Sea, and Leyte Gulf. Armed with ten 203 mm main guns, she was regarded as one of the most formidable cruisers of her era. She was eventually sunk at Singapore in 1946.
