This H0 scale (1:87) model represents the class 2016 “Hercules” diesel locomotive of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), produced by Roco. About the class 2016 “Hercules” locomotives

The class 2016 diesel locomotives of ÖBB, known as “Hercules”, were developed as universal diesel-electric locomotives capable of hauling both passenger and freight trains. The design was created by Siemens as part of the EuroRunner locomotive platform.

Between 2002 and 2004 the Austrian Federal Railways placed 100 locomotives of this class into service. These locomotives deliver around 2000 kW of power and reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h. With an axle load of about 20 tonnes they can also operate on secondary railway lines.

The “Hercules” locomotives are capable of multiple-unit operation and push-pull services, which makes them highly versatile traction vehicles used in many types of railway operations across Austria and other European networks.
