1:72 scale plastic model kit of the Polish wheeled armoured personnel carrier KTO Rosomak

IBG 72137 is an assembly kit reproducing the Polish wheeled armoured personnel carrier KTO Rosomak. Built in Poland under licence from the Finnish Patria AMV, it is a modern 8x8 carrier and one of the mainstays of the Polish Army's mechanised units.

The model reproduces the vehicle's characteristic silhouette in the small 1:72 scale, convenient for display and collecting. It is an attractive item for fans of modern Polish military equipment and for anyone building a collection of vehicles currently in Polish Army service.

What's in the box:

  • Plastic parts and clear parts
  • Waterslide decal sheet
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Kit specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: 72137
  • Manufacturer: IBG Models
  • Assembled length: approx. 107 mm
  • Skill level: intermediate

Note: The kit does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Building the model:

In 1:72 scale the model calls for precision with the smaller parts, so it is worth using modelling tweezers. Modern Polish Army vehicles typically wear a three-colour NATO camouflage in shades of green, brown and black, while sand schemes were also seen on overseas missions; details and recesses can be emphasised with a wash, and the whole finished with a matt varnish.

Tools you will need:

  • Modelling side cutters for removing parts from the sprues
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper for smoothing sprue-gate marks
  • Plastic cement
  • Precision modelling tweezers
  • Brushes of various sizes or an airbrush
  • Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • A wash to bring out the details

About the vehicle – KTO Rosomak:

The KTO Rosomak is a Polish 8x8 wheeled armoured personnel carrier developed from the Finnish Patria AMV design and built in Poland under licence. The vehicle entered Polish Army service in the mid-2000s, replacing older designs and significantly improving the mobility and protection of the troops it carries.

The Rosomak has earned a reputation as a modern and versatile vehicle, also proven in combat conditions during overseas missions. Many specialised variants have been based on it – from the basic carrier, through support versions, to command and medical-evacuation vehicles. Today the Rosomak remains one of the most recognisable vehicles of the Polish Army.

Original vehicle specifications (KTO Rosomak):

  • Type: 8x8 wheeled armoured personnel carrier
  • Base design: Patria AMV (licensed production)
  • Crew and troops: crew plus a section of dismounts
  • Powerplant: diesel engine
  • Manufacturer: Rosomak S.A. (Poland)
  • Service: from the mid-2000s
