Plastic model kit of the Chinese Type 100 support vehicle in 1:35 scale

Takom 2224 represents the Type 100 – a Chinese tracked support vehicle shown publicly during the military parade in Beijing in September 2025. The vehicle was designed as a heavily digitised escort platform working alongside the new-generation Type 100 tank. Rather than serving as a classic infantry carrier, it acts as a network node that increases situational awareness and the exchange of targeting data within an armoured formation.

The model is based on new injection tooling and captures the vehicle's modern, angular silhouette with an unmanned turret housing an autocannon suited, among other things, to engaging low-flying targets. The kit includes a rotating turret, reproduced optical elements and photo-etched parts. Some of the vehicle's technical data remains classified, so the description focuses on confirmed features.

Assembly:

The model combines plastic sprues with photo-etched parts, allowing a high level of detail for a contemporary vehicle. Photo-etched parts are best attached with cyanoacrylate glue, and the larger ones can be gently shaped before gluing. Given the clean, modern silhouette of the vehicle, it is worth taking care over neat assembly and smoothing the large hull surfaces.

For painting, contemporary schemes used by the Chinese ground forces are recommended, including digital camouflage patterns. The detail is worth emphasising with a wash, and the surfaces can be varied with subtle shading. Detailed painting and marking suggestions are provided in the manufacturer's instructions.

The Type 100 is a Chinese tracked support vehicle first shown publicly during the military parade in Beijing on 3 September 2025. It was created as part of a new generation of armoured weaponry and is intended to operate together with the Type 100 main battle tank, forming a grouping with strongly developed reconnaissance and network-centric capabilities.

A characteristic feature of the vehicle is its unmanned turret with an autocannon adapted to fire at high elevation angles – pointing to a capability against low-flying targets, including unmanned aerial vehicles.
